The announcement comes almost a month earlier than the past three seasons after the Chiefs stumbled to a 6-11 record and missed the postseason.<\/p>\n<p>A team vote determines these awards once the season ends.<\/p>\n<div>\n<h2><strong>Derrick Thomas Award (Most Valuable Player)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This year&#39;s team MVP goes to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PatrickMahomes?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@PatrickMahomes<\/a>! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/1Biin6IJ7M\">pic.twitter.com\/1Biin6IJ7M<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Kansas City Chiefs (@Chiefs) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Chiefs\/status\/2015077631419674940?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 24, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>For the fourth time in his incomparable Chiefs career, quarterback Patrick Mahomes has won the Derrick Thomas Award (Most Valuable Player). Mahomes was previously named team MVP for the 2018, 2022, and 2023 seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Mahomes\u2019 season was unfortunately truncated by a torn ACL suffered in Week 14. While his cumulative stats \u2014 3587 passing yards with 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions over 13 games \u2014 underwhelm based on the standard he has established, the quarterback battled to keep a disappointing squad in postseason contention into December. During the best stretch of the Chiefs\u2019 season, a three game October winning streak, Mahomes posted a passer rating above 100 in each contest with nine touchdowns and only two picks.<\/p>\n<p>With little going right on offense much of the season, Mahomes also set career highs with 422 rushing yards and five scores gained on his legs.<\/p>\n<div>\n<h2><strong>Mack Lee Hill Award (rookie of the year)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This rook made a statement this season! <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AshtonGillotte?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@AshtonGillotte<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/um3im3cWi3\">pic.twitter.com\/um3im3cWi3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Kansas City Chiefs (@Chiefs) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Chiefs\/status\/2015084929122754880?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 24, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Taken with the Chiefs\u2019 first of two third round selections of the 2025 NFL Draft, former Louisville edge rusher Ashton Gillotte was named the Mack Lee Hill (Rookie of the Year) award winner.<\/p>\n<p>While Gillotte nominally started only two games, his snap percentage increased as the season went on. Gillotte played over half of the defensive snaps in seven contests, including Kansas City\u2019s final five games. He finished the season with 1.5 sacks but recorded a pressure in five of the final six games. Gillotte also made arguably Kansas City\u2019s top defensive play of the season with a dramatic interception off of Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert in Week 14.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, defensive end George Karlaftis was named Kansas City\u2019s Ed Block Courage Award winner.
