With a big focus on the offseason, figuring out what to do with George Pickens, could the Dallas Cowboys\u00a0consider a sign-and-trade to get some extra draft picks without the cap hit that Pickens will command? There are teams that could use an elite receiver and have the picks to deal.<\/p>\n
The Cowboys continue to interview defensive coordinator candidates, one of whom they’ll talk to Wednesday before he flies to Green Bay to interview for a job there coaching Micah Parsons.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, one of their top-reported candidates is off the market. Here is what the Boys are doing.<\/p>\n
Dallas receiver George Pickens is the biggest name in free agency, though the Cowboys could circumvent that by giving him a franchise tag. From there, they could work out a deal with another team where Pickens could negotiate a contract, then Dallas could trade him to that team.<\/p>\n
The Dallas Cowboys Wire gamed out some teams that would be interested, with the notion that Pickens is worth somewhere around a 20th pick in the draft. These are mostly teams that could be a receiver away from Super Bowl contention and have cap flexibility to pull something like this off.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys are bringing defensive backs coach and pass game coordinator Christian Parker Wednesday for an in-person meeting, then he is scheduled to fly to Green Bay to meet with the\u00a0Packers\u00a0about their DC opening.<\/p>\n
Green Bay is looking to replace Jeff Hafley, who on Monday was named the next head coach of the\u00a0Miami Dolphins. Parker had previously interviewed for the Packers’ job in 2024, but the role went to Hafley instead.<\/p>\n
If Dallas wants to keep Parker from going to that Green Bay interview, they could offer him the job Wednesday, so that\u2019s worth keeping an eye on.<\/p>\n
Fired\u00a0Buffalo Bills\u00a0head coach Sean McDermott is looking for a job, he’s a defensive mind and Dallas needs a defensive coordinator.<\/p>\n
McDermott is likely to interview for head coaching jobs, but there is no guarantee and his background is as an NFL defensive coordinator.<\/p>\n
Angel Torres of the Dallas Cowboys wire\u00a0thinks Dallas should consider McDermott.<\/p>\n
He writes: “In his career, his defenses have given up the fewest aerial yards three times, including this past season. In 17 years as a DC or HC, a McDermott-led defense has finished in the top ten in takeaways 13 times. Simply put, he knows how to take the ball away.<\/p>\n
“While he will likely will take a head coaching job if offered, his name is an intriguing option for the\u00a0Cowboys defensive coordinator job\u00a0if excluded in this year’s head coaching carousel.”<\/p>\n
