ALLEN PARK, Mich.<\/strong> \u2013 Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell praised the coaching and productivity of the Los Angeles Rams, led by Matthew Stafford, whom they face on the road in Week 15.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will be a big challenge at their place, but once again, looking forward to this. This is why you\u2019re in it,\u201d Campbell said.<\/p>\n

Campbell discussed the Rams\u2019 offensive personnel, noting a shift from 11 personnel to a lot of 13 personnel this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think a lot of this under-center run gives them a chance to really lean on you a little bit,\u201d Campbell said.<\/p>\n

Campbell explained that the run game has become more of a concerted effort, which helps receivers get a break and adds unpredictability when they switch back to 11 personnel.<\/p>\n

The Lions head coach also praised the Rams\u2019 tight ends for their versatility and the offensive coordinator\u2019s ability to put players in the best position to succeed.<\/p>\n

\u201cSean McVay\u2019s always done a good job of using the roster, the totality of it, as much as you can use your personnel,\u201d Campbell said.<\/p>\n

When asked about Michigan Wolverines legend and College Football Playoff national champion running back Blake Corum, Campbell said the run game has become more dangerous over the last four games.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you can run the ball, it becomes very dangerous because now you have to honor the run,\u201d Campbell said.<\/p>\n

Corum gained 128 yards and two touchdown\u2019s against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 14.<\/p>\n

<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

He noted that the Rams have a one-two punch in the backfield with two power backs who are quick, explosive, and versatile, like Corum and Kyren Williams.<\/p>\n

Stafford<\/h3>\n

Campbell talked about the challenge of defending a quarterback like Stafford, who is skilled at manipulating safeties with his eyes.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou do the best you can for them to understand that he will try to manipulate you,\u201d Campbell said.<\/p>\n

Campbell stressed the importance of playing keys and moving rather than just sitting and being baited by the quarterback.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted the need to cause disruption up front to force takeaways.<\/p>\n

Campbell addressed the Stafford trade, calling it a win-win for both teams.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re fortunate to have the guy we have and to get all that we were able to get,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cI know it feels like a win for us, and I\u2019m sure they feel the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brian Branch<\/h3>\n

Campbell addressed the injury to safety Brian Branch, who is out for the season with an Achilles injury.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnytime you lose somebody like BB, it\u2019s going to hurt. He\u2019s a productive player and a great locker room guy,\u201d Campbell said.<\/p>\n

However, Campbell expressed confidence in the replacements, including Avonte Maddox, who \u201cdid a hell of a job\u201d stepping in, and other players like Daniel Thomas, Erick Hallett, and newly signed Damontae Kazee, who provide options in the secondary.<\/p>\n

Regarding safety Thomas Harper, Campbell said he is still in concussion protocol with no setbacks, but it is uncertain if he will return this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we could get Harper back, that would be really good, too,\u201d Campbell said.<\/p>\n

Final quarter of season<\/h3>\n

On the mindset for the final quarter of the season, Campbell said the approach remains the same: \u201cYou\u2019ve got to win.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell emphasized the importance of focusing on each game as it comes, just like they did against Dallas.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had to find a way to win that game, and we did everything right relative to that game,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cWe\u2019ve got to play better to beat this team we\u2019re getting ready to face.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mini bye weeks<\/h3>\n

On the topic of mini bye weeks, Campbell acknowledged the difficulty of the schedule stretch but said the team needed the breather.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou get a couple of days off, catch your breath, and now we get ready for the Rams,\u201d Campbell said.<\/p>\n

He described the practice approach as smart and balanced with mental reps and walkthroughs to keep players fresh.<\/p>\n

Complementary football<\/h3>\n

Campbell reflected on the team\u2019s best complementary football performance of the season in their win over Dallas.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe a long time. It\u2019s been a while,\u201d Campbell said when asked why the team clicked so well.<\/p>\n

Campbell emphasized the importance of takeaways in the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe takeaways go a long way,\u201d Campbell said.<\/p>\n

He highlighted the impact of field position gained through returns, mentioning Tom Kennedy\u2018s big contribution in the return game.<\/p>\n

Campbell described how the team pinned Dallas inside the four-yard line and nearly forced a safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe get a stop, we get a takeaway, we turn it into seven,\u201d Campbell said.<\/p>\n

The Lions converted multiple takeaways into points, creating a 14-point swing that helped secure the victory.<\/p>\n

Maintaining momentum<\/h3>\n

Campbell noted the team\u2019s ability to maintain momentum despite setbacks.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf something went against us, the other unit picked it up,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cThey score, we score. They score, we score.\u201d<\/p>\n

Special teams also played a crucial role.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe get it to the 45, there\u2019s a return to the minus 45. Those are huge,\u201d Campbell said. He concluded, \u201cWhen you can do that in a game, that\u2019s how you win games in this league.\u201d<\/p>\n

Regarding the development of player Miles Frazier, Campbell said it is hard to say if he is ready to start, but every rep helps.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose are real reps against real opponents,\u201d Campbell said.<\/p>\n

Campbell also mentioned that Christian Mahogany is starting to feel good enough to work into practice, but does not expect a lot this week.<\/p>\n

Campbell praised the linebacker corps for their impact, especially with injuries in the secondary.<\/p>\n
