Ja’Marr Chase had to bite his tongue after Sunday’s loss to the Chicago Bears.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The star wide receiver snagged six passes on a busy day for a Cincinnati Bengals offense that was led by recently-acquired veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, who threw for a career-high 470 yards with four touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Despite those jaw-dropping numbers, Cincy were on the wrong end of an epic 47-42 scoreline, and dropped to 3-6 this season.<\/p>\n

For all the work the Bengals are doing with the ball, even without injured franchise star Joe Burrow, they are being let down by the defense.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Al Golden’s unit allowed 576 yards to the Bears and are now giving up an average of 426.6 yards per game.<\/p>\n

That means, statistically, the Bengals have the worst D in the NFL.<\/p>\n

After Cincinnati rallied from 41-27 down with less than two minutes remaining, all they needed was one final stop. But it didn’t come.<\/p>\n

Instead, with the Bears trailing by one, Caleb Williams connected with rookie tight end Colston Loveland on a 58-yard touchdown with 17 seconds to play.<\/p>\n

That delivered Chicago a crazy win, and left Cincinnati to become the first team in 59 years to score 38 or more points in back-to-back contests and lose both (they were downed 39-38 by the New York Jets last week).<\/p>\n

Chase, it seems, has had enough.<\/p>\n

The star wideout was visibly annoyed as he made his way off the field at Paycor Stadium, and was recorded saying: “One f***ing stop!”<\/p>\n

Back in the locker room, he repeated that message to reporters.<\/p>\n

When asked what was on his mind after the offense rallied into the lead, he responded: “Defense, get a stop.”<\/p>\n

That was about all a stony-faced Chase said of the performance, as he admitted he wanted to ‘stay in his lane’ following another loss.<\/p>\n

“I’ve never been in this situation, I don’t know how to handle it,” he added.<\/p>\n

“I’m going to stay in my lane.<\/p>\n

“I don’t want no defensive player to come chew me out about what the f*** I’m doing.”<\/p>\n

Running back Chase Brown, meanwhile, was more explicit in his assessment when asked what was going through his head post-game.<\/p>\n

“Probably the same as what was running through your head like, ‘What the f***? What the f***?'” he said.<\/p>\n

“We know how (the defense) can play. They played really well at the start of the season.<\/p>\n

“They did, and they were carrying us on their back. So now that we’re stepping up, I think we just got to play complementary football.<\/p>\n

“We put the ball in the end zone and go up a point at the end, finish the f***ing game. Just end it. That’s it. That’s what we need to do. Just end the f***ing game.”<\/p>\n

Bengals defense refuse to face media after latest horror show<\/h2>\n

While Chase and Brown took questions in the locker room, most members of the Bengals D refused to face reporters.<\/p>\n

According to Marshall Kramsky, a sports reporter for ABC’s WCPO 9 television channel, two players even laughed and said: \u201cCatch y\u2019all Monday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kramsky identified them as defensive end Shemar Stewart and defensive tackle T.J. Slaton.<\/p>\n

NFL rules require all players to be available to the media after each game, but that didn’t happen on Sunday.<\/p>\n
