Patrick Mahomes delivered a firm message to his teammates after the Kansas City Chiefs<\/strong>‘ 28-21 defeat to the Buffalo Bills<\/strong> as the quarterback made it clear that the team’s margin for error is gone.<\/p>\n

Mahomes’ warning came after one of his least efficient games of the season as he completed just 15 of 34 passes (44.1%) for 250 yards whilst he also threw one interception, and failed to score a touchdown for the first time this year.<\/p>\n

In contrast, Buffalo’s Josh Allen <\/strong>dominated the matchup as the NFL MVP completed 23 of 26 passes for 273 yards, achieving an 88.5% completion rate and keeping the Chiefs<\/strong>‘ defense under pressure.<\/p>\n

The loss snapped Kansas City’s three-game winning streak and exposed issues that Mahomes said must be corrected immediately if they are to remain contenders as they now trail the Denver Broncos by two games.<\/p>\n

“We got to learn from it,” Mahomes <\/strong>said. “But it’s kind of like, you got to do it now.<\/p>\n

“Like, there’s no easy game coming up and there’s no more chances that we can really take losses You got to learn from it fast. And we got to be better as a team.<\/p>\n

“Offensively, we got to be better, especially on some of those big drives we had in the second half.<\/p>\n

“We’ll just continue to push away and learn on this bye week. And then come back and be ready to play our best football coming off of it.”<\/p>\n

Mahomes takes accountability during Buffalo Bills loss on Sunday Night Football<\/h2>\n

Mahomes’ tone was sharp, signaling urgency across the locker room following the Week 9 setback as the team shows signs of losing touch in the AFC West, now behind the Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

And the 30-year-old quarterback pointed to one missed opportunity that defined the night: a 40-yard strike to Marquise Brown put Kansas City at the one-yard line, but the drive collapsed.<\/p>\n

Kareem Hunt was stopped short, and Mahomes failed to connect on two consecutive passes, including one to Travis Kelce <\/strong>in the end zone.<\/p>\n

Ultimately they settled for a 19-yard field goal and Mahomes was blunt about that failure.<\/p>\n

“We’ve got to find a way to get into the end zone,” Patrick added. “I’ve got to be better there. Situationally, we’ve got to be better,” he said.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs also had a late chance to tie the game after a missed Buffalo field goal. Mahomes started from his own 42-yard line with 22 seconds left but couldn’t finish the drive.<\/p>\n

He found Xavier Worthy for 18 yards, then threw three straight incompletions as time expired, sealing the team’s fourth loss of the season.<\/p>\n
