Look behind them and you\u2019ll likely find NFL All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a miserable pattern the Cowboys have settled into and was underlined in a 31-14 loss to the Bears in Week 3 that dropped Dallas to 1-2 and made Williams, one of the NFL\u2019s most embattled players, look like an NFL All-Pro.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrevon Diggs is on the Mount Rushmore of most overrated players in the NFL,\u201d Philadelphia Eagles blog The Birds Blitz wrote on its official X account on September 21.<\/p>\n<p>Video of Diggs slipping and falling as he tried to cover Odunze quickly went viral.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Trevon Diggs is COOKED \ud83d\ude2d\ud83d\ude2d<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/AE1AO04RIS\">pic.twitter.com\/AE1AO04RIS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NFL_DovKleiman\/status\/1969902402460410009?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 21, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Diggs One Of NFL\u2019s Worst And Highest Paid CBs<\/h2>\n<p>According to Pro Football Focus, Diggs has a 53.9 overall grade through 3 games. That makes him one of the NFL\u2019s worst cornerbacks on paper \u2014 he\u2019s ranked 104th out of 148 eligible players at his position.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately for the Cowboys, he\u2019s also one of the NFL\u2019s highest paid players at his position after he signed a 5-year, $97 million contract extension in July 2023 \u2014 a contract that runs through 2028.<\/p>\n<p>With another NFL All-Pro cornerback in Daron Bland out with a foot injury less than one month after signing a 4-year, $90 million contract extension, the Cowboys are paying a lot of money at one position that\u2019s producing negative results at this point.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.clutchpoints.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Cowboys-CB-Trevon-Diggs.jpg\" alt=\"Cowboys, Trevon Diggs agree to 5-year, $97 million extension\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In short \u2014 it\u2019s been a disaster.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrevon Diggs tried to jam Rome Odunze at the line of scrimmage, but the Cowboys\u2019 corner slipped and Rome Odunze finished the play with a 35-yard touchdown reception,\u201d Marquee Sports Network\u2019s Nicholas Moreano wrote on his official X account.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Internet, Media Love To Light Up Diggs<\/h2>\n<p>Few players in the NFL have been punching bags for the internet and NFL media like Diggs has been in recent years. That\u2019s a direct result of his massive contract and the fact he\u2019s missed 22 games due to injuries over the last 2 seasons due to a torn ACL in 2023 and re-injuring that same knee in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>In total, Bland and Diggs have only played 4 games together over the last 2 seasons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Dallas Cowboys defense is absolutely awful,\u201d ESPN\u2019s Stephen A. Smith said on First Take on September 21. \u201cYou know it, I know it, anybody with 2 eyes can see it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou look away for a quick second and you just might miss Trevon Diggs getting absolutely cooked every damn play!\u201d Cowboys fan Ryan Mota wrote on X. \u201c(Expletive) was so damn worried about Micah getting traded they should\u2019ve sent him also.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrevon Diggs is trash,\u201d The Rantagonizer wrote on X on September 21. \u201cMost overpaid player in Cowboys history.
