Marcus Davenport had his right arm in a sling as he made his way through the locker room Friday, but the\u00a0Detroit Lions\u00a0defensive end declined to provide an update on his latest injury or a timetable for return.<\/p>\n
“I ain’t got nothing to say,” Davenport told the Free Press.<\/p>\n
Davenport suffered an ankle injury in the first half of\u00a0last week’s win over the Chicago Bears, returned to start the third quarter, then left the game again after suffering what the\u00a0Lions\u00a0announced as a shoulder injury on a sack on Caleb Williams.<\/p>\n
Davenport, who missed most of last season with a torn triceps and most of the 2023 season (while with the\u00a0Minnesota Vikings) with an ankle injury, did not practice Thursday or Friday with what was listed on the official injury report as a chest injury.<\/p>\n
He sat in a recliner in the locker room after practice, but used only his left arm to get up from the seat before walking out of view of reporters.<\/p>\n
Lions coach Dan Campbell said Thursday the team still was in the stage of “getting tests and doctors looking at the stuff” with Davenport’s injury, though teammate Aidan Hutchinson cast doubt on Davenport’s availability beyond Monday’s game against the\u00a0Baltimore Ravens.<\/p>\n
Asked about the impact he’s had on No. 3 defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad, Hutchinson said after practice Thursday, “We have a really good relationship, and with Marcus being uncertain for the future, it’s going to be fun. We’re going to get after it, me and (Muhammad) are.”<\/p>\n
Davenport has one of the Lions’ four sacks this season and started each of the team’s first two games at the big end position opposite Hutchinson. Muhammad and Hutchinson are the only other edge rushers on the Lions’ roster, though Pat O’Connor also can play the big end position and Tryrus Wheat could make his Lions debut after the team claimed him off waivers at last month’s roster cut deadline.<\/p>\n
