ALLEN PARK — Starting cornerback D.J. Reed was a new addition to the injury report for the Detroit Lions on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Reed was listed as a limited participant due to a knee injury. And while All-Pro safety Kerby Joseph was spotted during practice, the Lions are saying he was also limited due to a lingering knee ailment.<\/p>\n
Reed played 60 snaps in the team\u2019s win over the Chicago Bears, which was tied for the most on defense. The Lions cornerback posted five tackles, allowing three catches on three targets in coverage for 34 yards in the win.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s been strong against the run, showcasing his willingness to make a play at the line of scrimmage. Pro Football Focus ranks Reed in the top 20 among cornerbacks in run defense. It\u2019s a good sign Reed was at least able to practice in some capacity to start the week. Still, it\u2019s worth watching how his knee responds throughout the week before the Lions head to Baltimore for Monday Night Football.<\/p>\n
As previously reported, the Lions were without left tackle Taylor Decker (shoulder), linebacker Jack Campbell (ankle) and edge defender Marcus Davenport (chest) at Thursday\u2019s practice.<\/p>\n
Decker did not practice at all last week before playing through his shoulder injury. Jack Campbell also missed a practice due to his ankle issue before playing his full role in the blowout win over the Bears, as well.<\/p>\n
There still isn\u2019t much of an update regarding Davenport\u2019s status, though. Lions coach Dan Campbell has said all week that the Lions expect to know more by the end of the week, as they await more medical tests to chart a path forward<\/p>\n
One Davenport update to come out with Thursday\u2019s practice report was that the team is calling his injury a chest-related one. The Lions initially referred to Davenport\u2019s situation as a shoulder injury during the game.<\/p>\n
He went down in the third quarter on the same play he got to Bears quarterback Caleb Williams for his first sack of the year. Davenport also suffered an ankle injury before returning and getting a sack in Week 2. It\u2019s been a bumpy couple of seasons for Davenport, as he was limited to only six games across 2022 and 2023.<\/p>\n
