The\u00a0Cincinnati Bengals\u00a0lost star quarterback\u00a0Joe Burrow\u00a0to a toe injury during their Week 2 win over the\u00a0Jacksonville Jaguars.<\/p>\n
Burrow’s injury occurred in the first half as he tried to escape pressure. The veteran quarterback was dancing around the pocket before\u00a0Arik Armstead\u00a0wrapped him up by the ankle and brought him down.<\/p>\n
Burrow remained down on the field after the play and eventually had to be helped off an into the locker room. He did not return to action.<\/p>\n
Now, Bengals fans will be left wondering exactly how long Burrow might be out of action. Here’s what we know about the quarterback’s injury and how it may impact the team moving forward.<\/p>\n
Burrow is expected to miss a minimum of three months because of a turf toe injury, per\u00a0ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The star quarterback will have surgery to repair the ailment.<\/p>\n
Schefter had reported Sunday night that images of\u00a0Burrow’s injury were being sent to Dr. Robert Anderson\u00a0for review.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Burrow was dealing with turf toe. Rapoport added the fear was that the Bengals quarterback had suffered a\u00a0Grade 3 turf toe injury, something that would require surgery.<\/p>\n
Burrow had exited the stadium in a walking boot and was on crutches following the Bengals’ win over the Jaguars.<\/p>\n
Bengals coach Zac Taylor\u00a0did not provide an update\u00a0on Burrow’s status during his postgame news conference.<\/p>\n
“Nothing right now, to be truthful with you,” Taylor said when asked if he had any additional information on Burrow’s injury. “We got such a tight game. I didn’t get all the information yet.”<\/p>\n

Burrow remained down after the injury and required help getting to the sideline. Eventually, he walked into the locker room with assistance from Cincinnati’s medical staff, though he was unable to put much weight on his left leg.<\/p>\n
Burrow was originally deemed “questionable” to return because of the injury. He was later\u00a0downgraded to “out”\u00a0and was seen using a one-legged scooter after getting an MRI during the game, per\u00a0Fox19 Now’s Joe Danneman.<\/p>\n
Jake Browning\u00a0is the Bengals backup quarterback and will likely start as long as Burrow is sidelined.<\/p>\n
Browning, 29, entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Washington in 2019. He has been wtih the Bengals since 2021 and has made seven starts, all of which came in relief of Burrow during the 2023 NFL season.<\/p>\n
Browning has a career record of 4-3 and has completed 70.4% of his passes for 1,936 yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He went 21-of-32 passing for 241 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in relief of Burrow against the Jaguars while adding a touchdown on a 1-yard sneak.<\/p>\n
The Bengals have just three quarterbacks in their organization at present. They are as follows:<\/p>\n
