KANSAS CITY, Mo. \u2013 It\u2019s been a less than ideal start for the Kansas City Chiefs, who started the season 0-2 for the first time since 2014 after their loss to the Eagles on Sunday.<\/p>\n

It is also is the first time since Patrick Mahomes became the starter in 2018, that he lost three straight games.<\/p>\n

But, even with the rough start, Mahomes thinks this team is close to breaking through.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe played two good football teams and made mistakes in big moments, stuff that we\u2019re not used to doing,\u201d Mahomes said. \u201cI think we\u2019re coming together as a team. When you deal with adversity, it\u2019s about how you deal with it. I\u2019m excited for the next few weeks to see who wants to be challenged and how we can get back and really get after it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s one guy here or there, its not like we\u2019re missing by much. I know it sucks to hear for the fans, but I feel like we\u2019re close. Obviously, we\u2019ve never been 0-2 but we\u2019ve dealt with challenges and we\u2019ve lost games.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mahomes finished the game 16\/29 with 187 yards, two total touchdowns and one interception, but the offense struggled to consistently move the ball through the air.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs have lost their first two games by a total of nine points, a far cry from last season where they thrived in one score games.<\/p>\n

Head coach Andy Reid took full blame for the Chiefs slow start.<\/p>\n

\u201cI take full responsibility for that game,\u201d Reid said.<\/p>\n

Even though the Chiefs most recent struggles have put them in unfamiliar territory, there is no reason for them to panic as they\u2019ve been without their top two targets while facing two of the better teams in the NFL.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
