Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones brought Jay-Z and Dez Bryant into the conversation recently when discussing his negotiations with current star defensive end Micah Parsons.<\/p>\n

Parsons has been frustrated because the Cowboys have failed to negotiate with his agent, David Mulugheta, and instead have wanted to negotiate with him directly. Those actions led to Parsons requesting a trade.<\/p>\n

Jerry Jones recently told reporters why he prefers to negotiate with players and not agents.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause when we have a problem with the player, the agent is nowhere to be found,\u201d he said. \u201cJay-Z said that Dez would make all meetings. Jay-Z and I negotiated the contract, spent hours. He said, \u2018Anybody in my organization is on time.\u2019 He said, \u2018My office used to be on the street corner, and I\u2019ve always been early. So, they will be on time.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd what did I say? I said, \u2018I\u2019m going to call you [when I have a problem].\u2019 He quit taking my call.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dez Bryant and Jay-Z\/Roc Nation clearly did not appreciate the comments from Jones.<\/p>\n

Bryant posted about the comments on X first, doing so Saturday evening.<\/p>\n

\u201cJERRY JONES I DON\u2019T THINK ITS SMART TO MENTION MY NAME,\u201d Bryant said, in all caps. \u201cI KEPT QUIET ABOUT A LOT OF UNFAIR [expletive].. ON SOME G [expletive]\u2026 WE CAN HAVE STORY TIME IF THAT\u2019S WHAT WE ARE DOING.”<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Roc Nation Sports\/Jay-Z also responded to Jones\u2019 claims.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2015, at the 21 club, on a napkin, Jerry Jones, Juan Perez, Shawn \u2018Jay-Z\u2019 Carter, and Stephen Jones negotiated a five-year, $70 million deal, which included a $45 million guarantee and a $20 million signing bonus for Dez Bryant. At the time, it was the second-largest contract for a wide receiver in NFL history,\u201d the post from Roc Nation stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe claim that Mr. Carter or Roc Nation representatives did not return a call from Jerry Jones is not only a false statement, but it\u2019s also a comical one.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Cowboys and Jerry Jones have had some interesting contract negotiations over the years.<\/p>\n

In 2024, they signed star receiver CeeDee Lamb and star quarterback Dak Prescott to extensions, but not before lengthy negotiations that lasted past training camp.<\/p>\n

Micah Parsons said in his statement announcing the trade request that he had his agent reach out to the Cowboys last offseason to try to secure <\/i>an extension. He then tried to start up negotiations with the Cowboys again after the 2024 season, he said, but was met with \u201cradio silence.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUp to today the team has not had a single conversation with my agent about a contract,\u201d he said. \u201cNot one demand has been made by my agent about money, years or anything else. Still, I stayed quiet, but again, after repeated shots at myself and all the narratives I have made a tough decision. I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys.\u201d<\/p>\n

CeeDee Lamb called out the Cowboys on X after Parsons\u2019 trade request.<\/p>\n

\u201cNever fails dawg. Just pay the man what you owe em,\u201d he posted. \u201dNo need for the extra curricular.”<\/p>\n

It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens with Micah Parsons and the Cowboys in the weeks to come.<\/p>\n
