The Lions gave a lot of backups and young players a lot of playing time in the Hall of Fame Game, and the results did not please head coach Dan Campbell.<\/p>\n

The Chargers beat the Lions 34-7, and Campbell said much of their performance didn\u2019t meet the Lions\u2019 standards.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou want to win the game, you also want to play really well, and we didn\u2019t do that,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cI would expect us to play much better next week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell was extremely disappointed with the Lions\u2019 turnovers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe turned it over five times and we didn\u2019t get any takeaways,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cYou\u2019re wearing Lions gear, you\u2019ve got to take care of the ball, or it\u2019s going to be hard to keep you around.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell said the players who are fighting for a roster spot need to look better in the next preseason game, August 8 against the Falcons.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe message is, when you get an opportunity to make your plays, you\u2019ve got to make your plays,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cWe have to get significantly better. We\u2019ve got to coach them better and they\u2019ve got to play better.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
