At his training camp press conference on Tuesday, Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Kingsley Suamataia reacted to the physical battles between the offensive and defensive lines in practice sessions.<\/p>\n

“We try to compete and have fun. Off the field, we’re all loving, brothers, but once we’re on here, we’re trying to knock each other’s heads off. So it’s all love,” said Suamataia. “We just out there, banging heads, and it all starts with the lineup upfront. So we’re all trying to get each other better. We all know that if the O-Line and D-Line are good and rush in the backfield, they are going to make their plays.”<\/p>\n

Suamataia is battling intensely in training camp drills, earning him a reputation as a potential favorite to be the new starting left guard. The hot weather on campus during Tuesday’s camp elevated frustrations and called for extra physical play.<\/p>\n

Last season, Suamataia was benched during Week 2 but had the opportunity to start at offensive guard against the Broncos in Week 18, potentially earning a shot at being the full-time starter at that spot this season.<\/p>\n
