<\/p>\nIt’s not often you see an owner or general manager call out numerous players during a training camp press conference. But it’s also not often that person operates as both \u2014 and that would be the case for one\u00a0Jerral Wayne Jones.<\/p>\n
Speaking to reporters on Monday, the\u00a0Cowboys\u00a0figurehead had a few players in his crosshairs, one of whom was Cowboys star cornerback Trevon Diggs whose missed 21 games over the last two seasons due to\u00a0injury.<\/p>\n
Jones and Dallas chose to dock Diggs half a million dollars for his decision to rehab his knee injury away from the\u00a0team\u00a0at the end of last year \u2014 something Jerry defended at the top of the week.<\/p>\n

“He didn’t earn it; he didn’t come,” Jones argued. “That’s in his contract that he doesn’t get that unless he’s going to be here. … Those are contractual things as Stephen said. It would be very detrimental to the team not to abide by the agreement.”<\/p>\n
“We expect a player paid like Trevon to be here all the time. We expect him to be leading. That’s not new \u2026 It’s important to have the right body language in every respect when you are one of the rare, rare financially paid and gifted players. You’ve got to have some leadership about you.”<\/p>\n
Jerry’s statements obviously got back to Diggs who fielded\u00a0questions\u00a0at practice about the $500K loss.<\/p>\n
