Myles Garrett attempted to paint the Cleveland Browns into a corner to begin the offseason by demanding a trade out of town, citing his “desire to win” as the reason.<\/p>\n
Not long after, he settled for a $160 million contract extension that made him, very briefly, the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL.<\/p>\n
Now that he’s got the trade request and contract questions behind him, he’s ready to settle back into his leadership role and have the best year ever with the Browns.<\/p>\n
\u201cI look forward to having my best season for sure, and I think it\u2019s trending that way,\u201d Garrett said, via Zac Jackson of The Athletic. \u201cI think everything\u2019s pointed in that direction. And I like where we are as a defensive unit. It\u2019s really firing, really rolling, and I think it\u2019s really clicking as far as the scheme and the plays. (Since) the day I set foot here at this facility, with this organization, I\u2019ve had an opportunity to have a platform and to set a standard. And I\u2019ve got to continue to be the leader for this team and set that standard.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Garrett is already a six-time Pro Bowler, a four-time First-Team All-Pro and has been named Defensive Player of the Year.<\/p>\n
He was the No. 1 overall pick out of Texas A&M in the 2017 NFL Draft and has posted 352 total tackles with 250 solo and 116 for loss while adding 102.5 career sacks across 117 games with the Browns.<\/p>\n
