President Mark Murphy is still in charge for another month, but his days of making big plans for Green are over.<\/p>\n Murphy recently wrote that his biggest regret was only winning one Super Bowl. He believes general manager Brian Gutekunst and head coach MaLaFleur will win a championship soon, but the pair might not have a long leash under Policy.<\/p>\n Per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Policy told reporters on Friday that he has no plans to extend the contracts of Gutekunst or LaFleur. They each have two seasons remaining on their current deals.<\/p>\n \u201cPolicy told local beat writers on Friday that he\u2019s not extending either of them entering the season (which is not unusual around the league with two years remaining) and is \u201cgenerally opposed\u201d to the head coach and general manager working with just one year remaining on their deals,\u201d Schneidman wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cThat creates a lot of issues,\u201d said Policy. \u201cI think normally, you have a pretty good idea of where that relationship is going when you have two years left \u2014 not always, but normally. But it creates a lot of issues because they also have to hire a staff \u2026 generally speaking,<\/p>\n \u201cI would avoid lame-duck status. It\u2019s oftentimes difficult on everybody involved, but there are certain situations that probably call for it. So I would not say never.\u201d<\/p>\n LaFleur has a 67-33 record with Green Bay since he took over in 2019. He\u2019s 3-5 in the postseason, and has made one NFC championship appearance.<\/p>\n Schneidman took Policy\u2019s decision to mean LaFleur and Gutekunst are on the hot seat in 2025.<\/p>\n \u201cIn other words, the Packers will likely either extend or fire LaFleur and Gutekunst after this season,\u201d Scheidman wrote. \u201cThis year already carries a heightened sense of urgency for the Packers as they enter Year 3 of the Jordan Love era after an underwhelming season, but now the public knows the head coach and general manager may have even more at stake, too.<\/p>\n The Green Bay Packers recently cut All-Pro corner Jaire Alexander, and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson would love to see him in Baltimore.<\/p>\n The\u00a0Green Bay Packers\u00a0dropped a bombshell on the\u00a0NFL\u00a0earlier this month when they announced the release of two-time All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander.<\/p>\n \u201cThe #Packers are releasing star CB Jaire Alexander today, sources say,\u201d\u00a0Rapoport wrote\u00a0on his official X account. \u201cThe\u00a0#Packers\u00a0and Jaire Alexander agreed to explore a potential trade this spring, while a restructured contract was also discussed. In the end, Green Bay and Alexander move on with a clean break.\u201d<\/p>\n With Alexander on the open market, an old college teammate at Louisville is ready for him to join him on the\u00a0Baltimore Ravens\u00a0roster.<\/p>\n ‘Go get him, Eric! I love all our corners, don’t get me wrong. But, go get him, Eric,”\u00a0Jackson told reporters on Tuesday, per Ari Meirov.<\/p>\n Jackson then admitted he’s already reached out to Alexander.<\/p>\n “I hit ’em up, yeah, I hit ’em up. You don’t know. You never know with Jaire,” Jackson continued.<\/p>\n Alexander, who signed a\u00a0four-year, $84 million contract\u00a0with Green Bay in 2022, is just 28 and still has a lot of football left in him. His departure from the Packers wasn’t performance-related, but due to a hefty $25 million cap hit for 2025.<\/p>\n The former Louisville Cardinals defender has dealt with injuries recently, however. Over the past two years, Alexander has played in just 14 total regular-season games due to numerous injuries, including groin, back, shoulder and knee issues.<\/p>\n He missed the Packers’ final eight games of 2024, including their Wild Card round loss to\u00a0the Eagles.<\/p>\n When he’s been healthy, Alexander has been one of the best at his position.
