There is no doubt that\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0star\u00a0Travis Kelce\u00a0is one of the greatest tight ends to ever pick up a football. His 10 Pro Bowl selections, four All-Pro nods and three\u00a0Super Bowl\u00a0championships, among other things, all serve as proof of this fact.<\/p>\n
Every now and again, however, Kelce does find himself in some hot water. This was the case again on Sunday after he was dragged into a bit of a controversy on social media.<\/p>\n
Kelce’s old deleted tweet from April 2010 suddenly resurfaced on Easter Sunday. In his controversial message, a 20-year-old Kelce shouted out Jesus Christ for “takin one for the team.”<\/p>\n
Despite the fact that the tweet is a decade and a half old, fans on social media were still quick to criticize the Chiefs star for what he said.<\/p>\n
“People shouldn\u2019t be surprised, he\u2019s always been an absolute jerk,” a\u00a0comment\u00a0on X read.<\/p>\n
“Legend? With a tweet like that lol. Refs let him have his way plus he has taylor,”\u00a0said\u00a0another.<\/p>\n
“Apple falls so far from the tree in the Kelce family, one brother (Jason) quite literally walks on water and the other one (Travis) is a whiny wanna be thug,”\u00a0reacted\u00a0a user.<\/p>\n
“Hmm I don\u2019t find this amusing at all,” a\u00a0post\u00a0read.<\/p>\n
“It’s the haha that does it. I could see myself maybe posting this at like 12\/13 maybe so me at 12\/13 vs Travis at 20 same awareness and intelligence roughly i suppose if I’m being generous,” another\u00a0said.<\/p>\n
To be fair, a good amount of fans came out to defend Kelce by saying that the post was funny and that technically, what he said was accurate enough.<\/p>\n

Either way, Kelce was forced to address the post after his brother,\u00a0Jason Kelce, brought it up during the most recent episode of their “New Heights” podcast.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have potentially the greatest tweet ever tweeted on Easter day,” Jason Kelce started, via\u00a0People. “This is the best thing ever.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is so (expletive) dumb,\u201d Travis Kelce quipped as his brother read out the post.\u00a0“… So ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jason Kelce could not help but laugh at his brother’s expense, which prompted an explanation from the Chiefs TE.<\/p>\n
\u201cListen, I wanted to make sure everybody knew I was having a good time joking about this,” Travis Kelce said, adding that he \u201ccouldn’t take it too serious.\u201d<\/p>\n
The brothers would then go on to agree that Jesus absolutely deserves a shoutout for dying for everyone’s sins.\u00a0“He’s the best leader out there,” Travis Kelce concluded.<\/p>\n
Travis Kelce is clearly ready to move on from this issue, which, again, dates back 15 years. The brothers pretty much ignored the online backlash from the post, but Travis Kelce still took the time to explain himself.<\/p>\n
