The Cleveland Browns have a glaring, obvious need this offseason, and it’s at quarterback.<\/p>\n
With the No. 2 overall pick, they could potentially remedy that situation or could shore up the defensive line with an elite pass rusher.<\/p>\n
But aside from the position under center, what other position groups could general manager Andrew Berry target in next month’s NFL Draft?<\/p>\n
The list is long and distinguished.<\/p>\n
And ClevelandBrowns.com writer Kelsey Russo attempted to answer that recently.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
She noted that the team made some improvements in the initial phase of free agency with the additions of linebacker Jerome Baker, defensive tackle Maliek Collins, guard Teven Jenkins, tackle Cornelius Lucas and defensive end Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, as well as re-signing corner Tony Brown II and linebacker Devin Bush.<\/p>\n
Russo said the biggest need offensively is at running back and tight end depth.<\/p>\n
“The room consists of just Jerome Ford and Pierre Strong Jr., as Nick Chubb became an unrestricted free agent when the new league year started,” Russo said.<\/p>\n
“They need another option in that room to help with depth. Tight end is in a similar position, with David Njoku leading that room. “The Browns tendered exclusive rights free agent Blake Whiteheart and have Brenden Bates on the roster after signing him toward the end of 2024, but they could use another pass catcher and blocker.”<\/p>\n
On defense, safety could use some help.<\/p>\n
“A room which consists of just Grant Delpit, Ronnie Hickman and Christopher Edmonds,” Russo continued. “Following the retirement of Rodney McLeod Jr., the Browns not only lost a veteran presence in the secondary, but they also lost depth as well.<\/p>\n
“Whether that addition comes in a free agent or in a rookie, the secondary could use another safety to bolster the unit.”<\/p>\n
