The Dallas Cowboys have been rather proactive this offseason when it comes to contracts, with Osa Odighizuwa and Micah Parsons taking center stage.<\/p>\n
But there is another defensive player who is about to enter free agency and he might have gone under the radar of sorts – DeMarcus Lawrence.<\/p>\n
Injury limited D-Law to four games in 2024, but in that span, he managed three sacks, five quarterback hits, and four tackles for loss, so he was productive.<\/p>\n
But now comes the hard part-figuring out an extension. Lawrence, who spoke with the Dallas Morning News, is at peace with how things are going but stated that his preference is to remain a Cowboy.<\/p>\n
“The ball is in their court,” Lawrence said. “I’m not only going to play in Dallas. I’m going to have other options, but I’d like to stay here. It would be a glorious thing. … My family is here. I love it here. The fans love me here.”<\/p>\n
So, Lawrence wants to stay, but of course, money will be a factor.<\/p>\n
Given Dallas’ need for defensive line reinforcements, could it let Lawrence walk if the price is too steep? Absolutely.<\/p>\n
According to his agent, David Canter, who spoke with 105.3 The Fan, his client has a number he wants, and if he doesn’t get it, they’re gone.<\/p>\n
“Honestly, that’s up to them,” Canter said. “It’s not up to us. There’s a number.”<\/p>\n
We don’t know what that number is. Spotrac.com has D-Law’s value set at $12.2 million APY and a two-year deal worth $24 million as a starting point.<\/p>\n
Is that too rich for the Cowboys? We’re about to find out.<\/p>\n
