The\u00a0Cleveland Browns\u00a0are likely to begin life without Myles Garrett in 2025, as the disgruntled superstar edge rusher has requested a trade. And, to put more pressure on the Browns, Garrett made his demand public.<\/p>\n
Despite that, the Browns have made it quite clear they\u00a0don’t intend to trade him, which may create a standoff between the two sides. One way or the other, the Browns trading Garrett seems inevitable.<\/p>\n
“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl,”\u00a0Garrett said in his statement. “With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”<\/p>\n
Garrett’s desire to win a Super Bowl is driving his trade demand, and one of the teams he could have his eye on is the\u00a0Detroit Lions, a team Fantasy Life’s Ian Hartitz believes will ultimately\u00a0land the six-time Pro Bowler\u00a0in a trade.<\/p>\n
One of the Lions’ biggest needs this offseason comes along the edge, where the team needs more help off the bench and a younger option than Za’Darius Smith who can fill the starting role across from Aidan Hutchinson for multiple years.<\/p>\n
Trading for Garrett is exactly the kind of move the win-now Lions need to make. Having an all-world duo of Hutchinson and Garrett would not only be a massive upgrade, it would put the Lions in a better position to win a Super Bowl.<\/p>\n
Any trade package for Garrett will likely start with a first-round pick. From there, Detroit would probably have to give up a second selection from the first few rounds, and quite possibly a player or another pick, also.<\/p>\n
Barring an absolutely absurd asking price, the Lions should be all in on acquiring Garrett to prepare for another run at a Super Bowl in 2025. He may be difficult to afford down the road, but the Lions can’t worry about that right now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
