Bengals hiring senior defensive assistant, per report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The\u00a0Cincinnati Bengals\u00a0are hiring Sean Desai as a senior defensive assistant, according to a report Monday\u00a0from NFL Network&#8217;s Tom Pelissero.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Desai spent last season as a senior defensive assistant for the\u00a0Los Angeles Rams.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Desai goes back several years with\u00a0Al Golden, who became the Bengals&#8217; defensive coordinator in January.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">What to know about the 41-year-old Desai:<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"gnt_ar_b_h2\">Desai&#8217;s coaching career started at Temple University, under then-Owls head coach Al Golden.<\/h2>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Desai was a grad student at Temple when Golden hired him as a grad assistant, helping players with academics and later working with the defense and special teams.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cincinnati.com\/gcdn\/authoring\/images\/smg\/2025\/02\/24\/SBEN\/80071451007-47-178105.jpeg?width=660&amp;height=441&amp;fit=crop&amp;format=pjpg&amp;auto=webp\" alt=\"Sean Desai was the Seattle Seahawks' associate head coach in 2022.\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Desai also taught at Temple, and was ready to leave coaching to become a full-time professor at George Washington University when Golden convinced him to stay on the Owls&#8217; staff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Desai became Temple&#8217;s outside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator in 2010, at age 27.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"gnt_ar_b_h2\">Desai played high school football, but did not play in college.<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images2.minutemediacdn.com\/image\/upload\/c_crop,w_4117,h_2315,x_0,y_0\/c_fill,w_912,ar_16:9,f_auto,q_auto,g_auto\/images\/ImagnImages\/mmsport\/all_bengals\/01jmwscf9z8wh4049pjh.jpg\" alt=\"Cincinnati Bengals Make Another Addition to Coaching Staff, Hiring Sean  Desai as Senior Defensive Assistant\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Desai was ESPN analyst\u00a0Dan Orlovsky&#8217;s teammate at Shelton High School.
