The Green Bay Packers typically take defensive players in the first round of the draft, and that isn\u2019t lost on Jordan Love. On her podcast, Kay Adams asked Love what he thought the Packers would do in the draft, and he felt he knew based on historical precedent.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s a great question, let\u2019s see,\u201d Love said. \u201cKnowing the Green Bay Packers, I think we\u2019re gonna go defense.\u201d<\/p>\n

If the young quarterback is correct, what would Green Bay\u2019s draft look like if they focus on defense?<\/p>\n

\"What<\/p>\n

Round 1 (29) \u2013 Donovan Ezeiruaku, ED, Boston College<\/strong><\/h6>\n

There were no players that screamed future Packer available at 23, so I swung a trade with the Washington Commanders to acquire an extra second-round pick. I still landed a player who could be a stud in Green Bay at 29.<\/p>\n

My favorite player in the class is Texas corner Jahdae Barron, who was still there at 29. The more time that passes where Jaire Alexander is still on Green Bay\u2019s roster, the more I think he\u2019ll remain with the team. Therefore, corner is not a need at the top of the draft.<\/p>\n

Instead, the Packers address their pass rush with stud edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku. The Boston College product is familiar with current Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, who recruited him.<\/p>\n

Ezeiruaku had 14 sacks for BC last season, and PFF gave him elite pass-rush and run-defense grades. He\u2019s a little undersized at 6\u201d2\u2019, 247 lbs., but his athleticism and production make up for it.<\/p>\n

Round 2 (55) \u2013 Derrick Harmon, DL, Oregon<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Harmon can be an impact starter from his first NFL snap at 3- or 5-tech. He\u2019s great in both the run and the pass while being an elite gap filler.<\/p>\n

He played as a freshman at Oregon and improved every year. Harmon is 6\u20195\u201d, 310 lbs., and moves well for a player his size. Adding him to the front seven would give the Packers one of the best young defensive lines in the NFL.<\/p>\n

Harmon would be scary playing next to Devonte Wyatt and Kenny Clark, with Karl Brooks in the mix.<\/p>\n

Round 2 (61) \u2013 Wyatt Milum, T, West Virginia\u00a0<\/strong><\/h6>\n

One of the best pure football players in the class, Milum can play either guard or tackle in the NFL. He was PFF\u2019s highest-graded pass blocker last season, excels in a zone scheme, and is an equally proficient run blocker.<\/p>\n

Adding Milum to Green Bay\u2019s offensive line gives them a starter at either guard or tackle, allowing the team to put their best five guys out there.<\/p>\n

Round 3 (87) \u2013 Nick Emmanwori, DB, South Carolina\u00a0<\/strong><\/h6>\n

I attempted to trade up to grab a cornerback, either Kentucky\u2019s Maxwell Hairston or FSU\u2019s Azareye\u2019h Thomas. However, I couldn\u2019t make it work, so I went with Emmanwori, the best defender available.<\/p>\n

The South Carolina product is like Evan Williams, a tackling machine for SC who played a lot in the box. Still, he had elite coverage grades and would be another chess piece for Hafley in the defensive backfield.<\/p>\n

Round 4 (123) \u2013 Zy Alexander, CB, LSU<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Another Alexander to Green Bay? LSU\u2019s Alexander is not quite like Jaire. At 6\u20192\u201d, 194 lbs., Zy Alexander is a bigger corner but still plays a ton on the boundary and was solid against top-tier SEC competition for the Tigers\u2019 defense.<\/p>\n

Zy Alexander struggled a bit in man coverage and run defense but excels in zone schemes and has good ball skills. He\u2019s got the size and athleticism to keep up in the NFL. However, he might need some time to adjust to a new system.<\/p>\n

Round 4 (159) \u2013 Cody Lindenberg, LB, Minnesota\u00a0<\/strong><\/h6>\n

One of the toughest guys out there, Lindeberg gets after the ball carrier and can hold his own in pass coverage. He led one of the best defenses in college football last season and could step in on Day 1 and be a tackling machine in the NFL.<\/p>\n

Round 6 (198) \u2013 Jay Higgins, LB, Iowa<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Higgins is a linebacker who excels in pass coverage and had four interceptions for the Hawkeyes last season. He received elite grades in coverage while not being a liability in the run game. Adding Higgins to a linebacker unit that struggled in pass coverage could be a huge asset for Hafley\u2019s defense.<\/p>\n

Round 7 (238) \u2013 Tyler Shough, QB, Louisville\u00a0<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Shough was a stud for Louisville last season and could show some potential as the third-stringer behind Love and Malik Willis. He\u2019d be great value in the last round.<\/p>\n

Round 7 (250) \u2013 Marcus Wehr, G, Montana State<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Wehr has good size at 6\u20194\u201d, 300 lbs. with elite grades at an FCS school. He\u2019s worth a shot with the 250th pick in the last round.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
