The New England Patriots hold the No. 4 pick in this year’s NFL Draft, and they could use it to acquire a weapon for their young quarterback, Drake Maye.<\/p>\n

It’s no secret that the Patriots need to upgrade their receiving corps, and Colorado’s Travis Hunter is one of the best receivers in the draft.<\/p>\n

Hunter won the 2024 Heisman Trophy, playing both receiver and cornerback.<\/p>\n

It’s still unknown what position Hunter will want to play in the NFL since playing both sides of the ball is challenging.<\/p>\n

Bleacher Report\u00a0published their worst landing spots for the top 10 draft prospects and doesn’t think Hunter would be a great fit in New England.<\/p>\n

“The 2024 Heisman Trophy winner has higher upside at cornerback, where his traits portend a possible top-three cover man.” Bleacher Report stated. “He can be a productive wide receiver as well, but productive wide receivers can be regularly found. Elite cornerbacks can’t.”<\/p>\n

“A team in the top 10 with a bigger need at wide receiver shouldn’t be the one to invest in Hunter’s skill set.”<\/p>\n

If Hunter is expected to be a better cornerback, then a receiver heading to the Patriots wouldn’t be the best fit, as they will likely want to play him at wide receiver, given their lack of depth at that position.<\/p>\n

New England already has one of the best young corners in Christian Gonzalez, so they could ensure Hunter never plays on the defensive side, knowing they have a strong player at cornerback.<\/p>\n

If cornerback is genuinely Hunter’s best position, the Patriots should consider drafting Arizona’s 6-foot-5 wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who might be a better receiving prospect than Hunter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
