ANAHEIM, Calif. \u2014 In San Jose, the Chicago Blackhawks lost a game to the Sharks they probably should\u2019ve won. In Los Angeles, they won a game against the Kings they admit they probably deserved to lose.<\/p>\n

In Anaheim, they dispensed with good or bad luck and just executed according to plan, flustering a Ducks team 4-2 on Sunday at the Honda Center.<\/p>\n

The Hawks capped a five-game road trip with their first back-to-back wins \u2014 coming during a back-to-back \u2014 and finishing 3-2-0 on the trip.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s good,\u201d said Connor Bedard, who had three assists in the game. \u201cObviously it\u2019s been a long trip and you\u2019re feeling it at the end, so it\u2019s good that we\u2019re able to dig deep here and get a couple (wins).\u201d<\/p>\n

The Ducks took 11 of the first 12 shots on goal.<\/p>\n

\"Chicago<\/p>\n

Last season\u2019s Hawks might have wilted in the face of such pressure, as would Sunday\u2019s netminder, Arvid S\u00f6derblom. But he didn\u2019t buckle at all. He held steady until the Hawks could get their act together \u2014 which they did after surviving a questionable hooking penalty on Lukas Reichel.<\/p>\n

Defenseman Isaak Phillips earned his first point of the season, roofing a goal off Bedard\u2019s feed.<\/p>\n

Later, Reichel got his revenge by drawing a tripping penalty, and Teuvo Ter\u00e4v\u00e4inen capitalized on it with a power-play goal with 3 minutes and 16 seconds left in the frame.<\/p>\n

In the second period, Tyler Bertuzzi blasted Radko Gudas from the back and drew an interference penalty when Jackson LaCombe retaliated.<\/p>\n

On the power play, Bedard served up Seth Jones for his second goal of the season (both on the man advantage).<\/p>\n

Special teams had been a struggle in recent games, but the power play and penalty kill were humming to the tune of 2-for-2 and 1-for-5, respectively.<\/p>\n

The Ducks made a late surge, as expected, and Brock McGinn put them on the board midway through the third. But when Ryan Donato jammed in a goal from the crease to make it 4-1 with 2:17 left on the clock, it made Mason McTavish\u2019s power-play goal with 6 seconds left irrelevant.<\/p>\n

Coach Luke Richardson said, \u201cThat\u2019s a good step to not just win yesterday with a good comeback win and then just relax and just be happy with that. We\u2019re not satisfied, and I think that\u2019s a good step for a professional sports team.<\/p>\n

\u201cNever satisfied, you go right after the next one and we got four really big points, two big wins in California and we\u2019ll take that home with us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Here are seven takeaways from the win.<\/p>\n

1. Now the Hawks can do what they couldn\u2019t last season: Win three in a row.<\/h4>\n

Tank Season Part 2 was hard to watch last year, but it boggles the mind that the Hawks never strung three wins together.<\/p>\n

In fact, they only won two consecutive games three times.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe goal is to win every game, and the only two-game win streak is pretty tough,\u201d Bedard said. \u201cSo we obviously want to improve that, but we\u2019ve got to just keep rolling.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t be satisfied with two, we\u2019ve got to get more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Their first opportunity comes Wednesday against the Detroit Red Wings.<\/p>\n

2. Arvid S\u00f6derblom sizzled in this one.<\/h4>\n

S\u00f6derblom\u2019s previous start came Oct. 19 against the Buffalo Sabres, so it had been a long layoff.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t say \u2018nervous,\u2019 but it\u2019s always a little, I wouldn\u2019t say \u2018rusty,\u2019 but a little different,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

S\u00f6derblom survived 30 of 31 even-strength shots on goal and four of five penalty kills.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was unbelievable,\u201d Bedard said. \u201cWe had some breakdowns, and he was always there to make a big save.\u201d<\/p>\n

What\u2019s more, the defense blocked 26 shots to help him out.<\/p>\n

S\u00f6derblom said, \u201cWe\u2019re playing much better defense this year, both taking away rebounds, blocking shots and keeping them to the outside. It\u2019s more comfortable being goalie this year for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt makes the game feel a little slower. I play a little calmer, let the game come to me instead of chasing it.\u201d<\/p>\n
