Jordan Love\u00a0has now spoken on the hot topic surrounding the\u00a0Green Bay Packers\u00a0at Super Bowl week.<\/p>\n
And the Packers’ quarterback, not surprisingly, has taken a bit more of a measured approach than\u00a0running back Josh Jacobs\u00a0when discussing the team’s wide receiver room. He’s not out here\u00a0calling for the team to get a No. 1 wide receiver like Jacobs did.<\/p>\n
But Love also wouldn’t deny veteran help if the situation presented itself. He hears you\u00a0Davante Adams.<\/p>\n
Love addressed the Packers’ wide receivers, the team’s “inconsistent” year,\u00a0the NFL draft in Green Bay\u00a0and more during his chat with\u00a0Kay Adams on the “Up & Adams Show”\u00a0Friday from New Orleans.<\/p>\n
Here are five takeaways on Love’s appearance.<\/p>\n
Coming into the 2024 season,\u00a0Love was confident in his wide receivers and wasn’t fretting over not having a bona-fide “No. 1” wide receiver. He felt all of his wide receivers could continue to raise their levels as the youngest team in the NFL grew together on the offensive side.<\/p>\n
But that didn’t happen as drops and inconsistency plagued the group.<\/p>\n
Love is still confident in the Packers’ roster, however.<\/p>\n
“It works,” Love said. “We have a great group. Definitely areas to focus on to get better, to improve upon, to get over the hump, focus on the details. I love those guys.”<\/p>\n
And he’ll continue to go to bat for them.<\/p>\n
“If we keep growing and building this together we can do special things,” Love said. “No one has reached our full potential.”<\/p>\n
But Love is aware that a veteran presence could pay dividends.<\/p>\n
“Definitely, definitely,” Love said.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019ve been saying when you add good players to a good team I think good things will happen,” Love said.<\/p>\n
He cited the major offseason acquisitions the Packers made last season in adding\u00a0running back Josh Jacobs\u00a0and\u00a0safety Xavier McKinney,\u00a0two of the team’s three Pro Bowl players. “I love adding pieces,” Love said, but “it\u2019s got to be the right guys, right fit for our team.”<\/p>\n
And regardless if Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst adds a new wide receiver to the mix, Love knows it’s on him to take this team to the next level.<\/p>\n
“We’ve got to find a way,” Love said. “Faces change, new draft class coming in, you got to find ways with the guys you have in that building, come together and jell to do some great things. I love (our wide receiver) group. They do some phenomenal things. If we add a guy, we do.”<\/p>\n
Could this guy be Davante Adams?<\/p>\n
He wouldn’t mind that.<\/p>\n
“Davante, that\u2019s my guy,” Love said. “I know exactly what type of player he is. Phenomenal guy. Just a great guy.”<\/p>\n
Davante Adams is a regular guest\u00a0on “Up & Adams” and\u00a0said he’s open to a return to the Packers.<\/p>\n
And\u00a0he’s almost gone out of his way to credit Love and the Packers organization\u00a0over the last year.<\/p>\n
Love knows what a player like Adams, a three-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler, would bring to the Packers.<\/p>\n
“The playmaking ability that he has,” Love said. “He\u2019s just a phenomenal receiver, creates so much separation off the line. That\u2019s his game. Killing guys off the line and making crazy catches.”\\<\/p>\n
In the aftermath of Jacobs’ comments that the Packers need a No. 1 wide receiver, WR Dontayvion Wicks had an immediate reaction on social media.<\/p>\n
He used several laughing emojis and a thumbs down to express his feelings.<\/p>\n
Love was asked about all of that on Friday. He certainly wasn’t about to add to the drama \u2014 if there actually is any.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s tough now when everybody\u2019s in separate spaces,” Love said. “We\u2019ll get back together and we\u2019ll be great. Things happen in the offseason. So much talk and rumors. We\u2019ll see who we got when get back in OTAs.<\/p>\n
“Great group, we all love each other. Great team chemistry.”\\<\/p>\n

This great chemistry, however, didn’t lead to a Super Bowl championship or even a deep playoff run.<\/p>\n
So, how would Love characterize the season, one in which the Packers made the playoffs for the second straight year, but\u00a0lost in a wild-card game\u00a0and went 0-6 against the top teams in the NFC.<\/p>\n
“Fell short of those goals and expectations,” Love said. “Inconsistent year.”<\/p>\n
Love’s own injuries and regressions as well as from the wide receivers played a part in that.<\/p>\n
Still, Love called the season a “year of growth.”<\/p>\n
He acknowledged that facing this “adversity” made things more difficult. But he wasn’t using that as an excuse.<\/p>\n
Love injured his MCL in the season opener\u00a0and went on to miss the next two games, but returned quicker than many thought. His mobility, however, was limited and then\u00a0he suffered a groin injury not long after.<\/p>\n
It all contributed to a season of “highs and lows” for Love after he\u00a0signed a record-setting contract\u00a0last July.<\/p>\n
“Rocky season that I learned a lot of lessons,” Love said.<\/p>\n
