FRISCO – The\u00a0Dallas Cowboys\u00a0find Aaron Glenn to be “intriguing.” …<\/p>\n
Unlike the\u00a0New York Jets, who seemingly want to hire him – today.<\/p>\n
Word has it that on Tuesday, New York will have highly-regarded head coaching candidate Glenn in the building … with a plan to prevent him from ever leaving.<\/p>\n
The Jets have scheduled an interview with the\u00a0Detroit Lions\u00a0defensive coordinator Glenn for Tuesday, and the\u00a0New Orleans Saints\u00a0are keeping tabs on Glenn and would like to get involved here as well.<\/p>\n
Still, per\u00a0NFL.com, Glenn’s visit to the Jets is designed with a specific New York idea in mind.<\/p>\n
“The goal is to keep him from leaving the building,”\u00a0Ian Rapoport writes. “The deal isn\u2019t done and there are still some particulars to discuss. But if all goes well, he could end today as coach of the Jets.”<\/p>\n
Glenn has done excellent work in rebuilding the Lions’ defense from one of the worst in the league to one of the best in three short years. In 2024, while Detroit finished seventh in the league overall, the team also dealt with major injuries to over half of the defensive starters.<\/p>\n
While the team struggled down the stretch – including their 45-31 loss in the divisional round to the\u00a0Washington Commanders\u00a0– Glenn is still a hot candidate to get his first head coaching job at age 52.<\/p>\n
Where does this leave the Cowboys? According to an NFL source, Dallas is likely to “miss out” on the Texas native who once played in Dallas.<\/p>\n
Is that because Jerry Jones is focused elsewhere, with Kellen Moore, Anthony Lynn and Kliff Kingsbury among the many names involved here?<\/p>\n
Is that because Jones and the Cowboys are “being thorough”? Or because they are “dragging theit feet”?<\/p>\n
Either way, the issue in New York seems to be about hire Glenn as soon as possible. … meaning the likelihood that “intrigue” aside, a top candidate will come and go without the Cowboys ever having even interviewed him.<\/p>\n
