Ahead of the birth, Mahomes said he promised Brittany that the Chiefs would secure a first round bye in the playoffs \u2014 which the team did \u2014 so they could “go have that baby.”<\/p>\n

Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany have announced the birth of their third child, Golden Raye, who was born on Jan. 12.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mahomes spoke with reporters Tuesday \u2014 mostly about the Chiefs upcoming playoff against the Houston Texans in the AFC Divisional round. But he also spoke about settling into his new role as a father of three.<\/p>\n

Mahomes said his wife \u201ccrushed it\u201d and that it\u2019s been \u201ccool to welcome another baby girl in our family and see how my other kids react to her and having baby sissy.\u201d<\/p>\n

He did joke it was \u201ccool\u201d that Brittany allowed him to watch football at the hospital as they prepared for the birth of their second daughter.<\/p>\n

Golden Raye’s older sister, Sterling Skye Mahomes, was born in February 2021. Her older brother, Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, was born in November 2022.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the arrival of Golden, Patrick promised Brittany the Chiefs would secure the No. 1 seed in the AFC and a bye week in the playoffs so the couple could \u201cgo have that baby.\u201d And that\u2019s exactly what he did.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was cool that we got the bye \u2014 just cause you can kind of really focus in on just being at the hospital and being in the moment,\u201d Mahomes said. \u201cIt\u2019s a special moment that a lot of dads and moms have experienced, and you don\u2019t forget about that stuff. So I was glad I was able to be there and support in the best way I can.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told reporters he thinks Patrick \u201cdoes great\u201d with being a father. So much so that he told Mahomes, \u201dOnce you have three, four and five are easy.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Mahomes said he is \u201cgood with three for right now.”<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll see down the line maybe, but my goal was always three, so we\u2019ve had three,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd we\u2019ll stick there for a while and see if we need to come back and get another one later on.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the Mahomes family\u2019s three-peat, the Chiefs are now closing in on one of their own.<\/p>\n

Kansas City faces Houston at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. The winner will advance on to the AFC Championship game and move one step closer to Super Bowl LIX.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
