Chcicago loses both games in back-to-back weekend set<\/p>\n

The Chicago Blackhawks dropped their second game of a back-to-back weekend set, falling 4-3 to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

With the loss, the Blackhawks move to 14-27-2 of the season.<\/p>\n

Chicago has now lost eight of its last ten games, continuing a season-long struggle with consistency.<\/h2>\n

Also, Connor Bedard’s long nine-game point streak comes to an end and was frustrated after the loss.<\/p>\n

Chicago started strong in the first period. Teuvo Teravainen opened the scoring with a one-timer from the slot off a feed from Jason Dickinson, giving the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n

Teravainen has been on a tear recently, with three goals in his last two games, including a pair in Friday’s 5-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings.<\/p>\n

Captain Nick Foligno doubled the lead, jamming the puck past Edmonton goaltender Calvin Pickard from the side of the net. The Blackhawks headed into the first intermission with a 2-0 advantage.<\/p>\n

However, the Oilers struck back with no time to spare. Vasily Podkolzin scored 22 seconds into the second period, cutting the deficit to 2-1.<\/p>\n

Ryan Donato restored Chicago’s two-goal lead with a quick turnaround shot from the shot, beating Pickard for his 13th goal of the season. Donato has scored in consecutive games after snapping a 16-game goalless drought.<\/p>\n

Edmonton pushed back once again. Adam Henrique tipped in a shot from Ty Emberson to make it 3-2, and former Blackhawk Corey Perry tied the game at 3 just 1:43 later. As Perry’s goal was announced on the jumbotron, the Blackhawks fans responded with boos.<\/p>\n

The teams entered the second intermission deadlocked at three a piece.<\/p>\n

In the third period, the Blackhawks a uselses penalty. Following a trip from Noah Allan, the Oilers capitalized on the powerplay a minute later after the penalty was called. Zach Hyman scored the game-winner, scoring on the rebound from his office to give the Oilers their first lead of the night.<\/p>\n

Chicago had a chance to tie the game late after earning its first powerplay of night—and first in two games—but the Oilers held their ground to secure the 4-3 victory<\/p>\n

The Blackhawks next game is against another Alberta opponent, the Calgary Flames Monday.<\/p>\n

Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m. EST. The game will air on NHL Network.<\/p>\n
